Antigone
Jean Anouilh and Sophocles
Nipomo & Arroyo Grande High - 2015
Antigone is part of a larger tradition of Greek theatre: a theatre of community, a theatre that binds us to the gods, a theatre putting us on a vibrant path to the eternal. This storytelling defines and envelopes the audience in a voice which reaches beyond our eyeline, beyond the room, beyond our consciousness, into the realm of myth. It is through this organism of theatre that we discover the depths of ourselves, our origins, our shared destinies. This production ensemble, bringing together the talents of Nipomo High and Arroyo Grande High theatre companies, Nipomo High Music and Ethereal FX, has explored the strength of the bond arising from the pursuit of and struggle with these existential truths. In experiencing this beauty, we hope you will appreciate the community we as a species generate through art.
