Recently, I came to a crossroads for a season, and I needed a guide. I thought heavily on what influences us from early ages, what remains with us - both positive and negative. We are moved by many things as we grow, as we discover ourselves - often these influences are the fairy tales we are exposed to. Much like the children you will see this evening, I came looking for story to guide me through this new journey here at Hillsboro High. Mary Zimmerman's work strikes me as an amazing opportunity for actor, technician, and director to grow together while delivering a potent reflection on the expansion of the soul through the imaginary, through the fearful, the bright and the dark. Her pages give us ample room to tease your mind and challenge your paradigm. We find ourselves, the Hilhi Players, wandering in the forest and finding...the strangest things.
